# Ingredients You’ll Need:

→ Main Components

01 - 1 pound breakfast beef sausage or turkey sausage
02 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
03 - 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
04 - 2 cups whole milk or 2% milk
05 - 1/2 teaspoon fine salt
06 - 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
07 - 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
08 - 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
09 - 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional
10 - 1 can (16 ounces) refrigerated biscuit dough, 8 large biscuits
11 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F. Coat a 9-inch pie dish or equivalent baking dish with nonstick spray.
02 - In a large skillet set over medium heat, brown the breakfast beef sausage thoroughly, breaking it up with a spatula until fully cooked. Drain excess fat and reserve sausage.
03 - In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sprinkle in the flour, whisking to form a smooth paste. Cook for one minute, stirring constantly.
04 - Gradually pour in the milk, whisking vigorously until mixture is smooth. Continue to cook, stirring, until gravy thickens, about 5 to 7 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add optional red pepper flakes for heat, if desired.
05 - Return cooked sausage to the skillet, mixing thoroughly into the gravy. Transfer sausage gravy into the prepared baking dish. Evenly distribute shredded cheddar cheese on top.
06 - Open biscuit can and place eight biscuits over the sausage gravy, spacing evenly. Biscuits will rise and expand during baking.
07 - Place dish in oven and bake uncovered for 20 to 25 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown and thoroughly cooked.
08 - Remove from oven and allow dish to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Scoop portions and serve warm.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - For enhanced flavor, substitute breakfast beef sausage with spicy or smoked varieties. Monitor biscuits while baking to avoid over-browning.
