Stuffed Seafood Bread Bowl (Print-Friendly Version)

Creamy seafood, garlic, and cheese fill a crusty bread bowl for a bubbling, savory comfort favorite.

# Ingredients You’ll Need:

→ Bread

01 - 1 large round crusty bread bowl, such as sourdough or artisan bread

→ Seafood

02 - 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
03 - 1/2 cup crab meat
04 - 1/2 cup scallops

→ Dairy and Cheese

05 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
06 - 1/2 cup heavy cream
07 - 2 ounces cream cheese
08 - 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
09 - 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

→ Aromatics and Flavorings

10 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
11 - 1 shallot, finely chopped
12 - 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
13 - 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
14 - Salt, to taste
15 - Black pepper, to taste

# How to Make It:

01 - Set oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking.
02 - Slice off the top of the bread bowl and hollow out the inside, reserving the removed bread for another use. Place hollowed bread on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes until crisp.
03 - Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped shallot, cooking until aromatic and translucent, about 2 minutes.
04 - Add shrimp and scallops to the skillet. Sauté until seafood turns opaque and is just cooked through, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in crab meat and heat until warm.
05 - Reduce heat to low. Pour in heavy cream and incorporate cream cheese, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the mixture is creamy and smooth.
06 - Add half of the Parmesan and mozzarella cheese, stirring gently until mostly melted and well incorporated.
07 - Carefully spoon the warm seafood mixture into the toasted bread bowl. Top evenly with the remaining Parmesan and mozzarella cheese.
08 - Return the filled bread bowl to the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown on top.
09 - Remove from oven, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the cheese, and serve promptly while hot.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Ensure all seafood is fully thawed and drained if previously frozen to prevent excess moisture in the filling.
02 - For added heat, include a pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes to the cream mixture.
03 - The seafood filling can be prepared in advance and stored under refrigeration until ready to assemble and bake.
