01 - 1 can (4 ounces) chopped green chiles
02 - 4 teaspoons ground cumin
03 - 1 teaspoon chili powder
04 - 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
05 - 3/4 teaspoon salt
06 - 1/2 teaspoon pepper
07 - 2 pounds lean ground beef
08 - 3/4 pound bulk pork sausage

→ Toppings and assembly

09 - 8 slices Monterey Jack cheese
10 - 8 hamburger buns, split, toasted
11 - 8 lettuce leaves
12 - 1 large tomato, sliced
13 - 1 to 2 ripe avocados, peeled and sliced
14 - Mayonnaise or mustard (optional)

# Steps to Follow:

01 - In a large bowl, combine the green chiles, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Crumble the ground beef and pork sausage over the mixture. Mix lightly but thoroughly and shape into 8 patties.
02 - Grill the patties, covered, over medium heat for 5 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160°F and juices run clear. Top each burger with a slice of Monterey Jack cheese.
03 - Grill the patties for 1-2 minutes longer until the cheese begins to melt.
04 - Serve the patties on toasted buns with lettuce, sliced tomato, avocado, and mayonnaise or mustard if desired.
