Philly Cheese Steak Stromboli (Printable Version)

# What You’ll Need:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 pre-made pizza dough (makes 2 strombolis)
02 - 1 lb roast or sandwich steak, sliced thin
03 - 1 medium onion, sliced thin
04 - 1/2 green bell pepper, sliced thin
05 - 2 jalapenos, seeded, washed, and sliced (optional, spicy)
06 - 8 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded or sliced
07 - 6 slices provolone cheese (optional)
08 - 1 small jar sliced mushrooms

→ For Assembly

09 - 1 egg, beaten
10 - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
11 - Salt, to taste
12 - Black pepper, to taste

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Heat a large pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
02 - Place sliced steak in the pan and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes, then add sliced onions, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the onions are lightly browned. Avoid overcooking as they will cook further in the oven.
03 - Using a rolling pin, roll out one loaf of dough into a 9x13 inch (23x33 cm) rectangle. Leave about 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) margin along the edges to allow the dough to seal.
04 - Spread the cooked steak mixture in the center of the dough. Layer mozzarella and optional provolone cheese on top of the mixture. Fold in the sides, tuck, and roll to form a loaf.
05 - Place the stromboli seam-side down on a greased baking sheet or aluminum foil. Brush the surface of the loaf with beaten egg. Make 2-inch (5 cm) thin strips or slits on the top layer of the dough. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
06 - Cut into portions and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or marinara.

# Additional Notes:

01 - This recipe yields two strombolis. Adjust ingredient amounts accordingly if making a single stromboli.
