# Ingredients You’ll Need:

→ Cake Batter

01 - 2 cups plain flour
02 - 1 3/4 cups white sugar
03 - 2 teaspoons baking soda
04 - 1 teaspoon baking powder
05 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
06 - 1 cup buttermilk
07 - 1/2 cup vegetable oil
08 - 2 large eggs
09 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
10 - 1 cup hot brewed coffee

→ Chocolate Ganache

11 - 1 cup heavy cream
12 - 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped up
13 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

# How to Make It:

01 - Heat your oven to 350°F. Butter three 8-inch round cake pans and put parchment paper on the bottoms.
02 - Mix the flour, white sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together in a big bowl.
03 - Pour in buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to your dry mix. Stir until everything's well combined.
04 - Slowly add the hot coffee and mix until your batter looks smooth and runny.
05 - Pour equal amounts of batter into your ready pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Check if it's done by sticking a toothpick in the middle - it should come out clean.
06 - Let the cakes sit in their pans for 10 minutes, then take them out and put them on a wire rack until they're completely cool.
07 - Warm the heavy cream in a pot over medium heat until it's steamy but not bubbling.
08 - Pour the warm cream over your chopped chocolate in a bowl. Wait 2 minutes, then stir until it's all melted and smooth. Add the butter and mix until it looks shiny.
09 - Spread the cooled chocolate mix between your cake layers and all over the outside for a nice finish. Add any decorations you want.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - For a fancy look, sprinkle some powdered sugar on top and add sugared cranberries, holly leaves, or gold decorations you can eat.
02 - The chocolate coating works better when it cools down a bit before you spread it.
03 - Let the cake warm up to room temperature before cutting it for neater slices.
