French Dip Sliders (Printable Version)

# What You’ll Need:

01 - 1 Tbsp olive oil
02 - 2 Tbsp unsalted butter
03 - 1 large or 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
04 - 1/4 tsp sugar
05 - 1 oz au jus mix, prepared according to package instructions
06 - 3 cups water, to prepare au jus sauce
07 - 16 Hawaiian sweet rolls
08 - 1/4 cup mayonnaise
09 - 1 lb deli pastrami or roast beef, thinly sliced
10 - 9 slices mild provolone cheese
11 - 2 Tbsp unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for greasing baking sheet)
12 - 1 Tbsp sesame seeds

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Preheat oven to 350˚F. Butter a rimmed baking sheet.
02 - Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat with olive oil and butter. Add sliced onions and sauté for 5 minutes until softened. Sprinkle with sugar and continue sautéing uncovered for another 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until caramelized and golden brown. Transfer onions to a plate.
03 - Using the same skillet, pour in 2 1/2 cups of water and scrape the pan to deglaze. Add au jus seasoning to taste and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer according to package instructions, adding extra water if the sauce is too salty.
04 - Cut the rolls in half and place the bottom halves on the buttered baking sheet. Spread mayonnaise evenly on the buns. Layer folded slices of beef on top, then spread caramelized onions over the beef. Cover with sliced provolone cheese.
05 - Place the top halves of the buns onto the sliders. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds. Bake uncovered at 350˚F for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bun tops are golden brown.
06 - Use a serrated knife to slice along the buns, separating individual sliders. Serve warm with prepared au jus sauce for dipping.
