Classic Cucumber Sandwiches Elegant (Printable Version)

# What You’ll Need:

01 - 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
02 - 1/4 cup mayonnaise (optional)
03 - 2–3 teaspoons chopped fresh dill or chives
04 - 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
05 - Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
06 - 1 English cucumber, thinly sliced
07 - 8–12 slices soft sandwich bread, crusts removed

# Steps to Follow:

01 - In a bowl, blend the softened cream cheese and mayonnaise (if using) until smooth. Stir in dill (or chives), garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
02 - Slice the cucumber paper-thin. Lightly salt the slices and let them sit briefly. Pat dry with paper towels to prevent soggy bread.
03 - Spread the cream cheese mixture on the bread slices. Layer the cucumber slices evenly over half of the slices. Top with the remaining slices of bread to form sandwiches.
04 - Remove crusts. Cut each sandwich into preferred shapes, such as triangles or fingers.
05 - Serve immediately, or cover gently and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Best served chilled or at room temperature.

# Additional Notes:

01 - Salting and drying cucumber slices helps keep sandwiches crisp.
02 - Butter a thin layer on the bread before spreading the cream cheese to prevent sogginess.
03 - Use English or Persian cucumbers for their thin skin and minimal water content.
