01 -
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or apply a light layer of oil to prevent sticking.
02 -
Dust your work surface with all-purpose flour. Roll out the pizza dough into a large oval or rectangle approximately 1/4 inch thick.
03 -
In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped or shredded chicken breast with 1/2 cup of marinara sauce and garlic powder. Stir until well coated.
04 -
Spoon the chicken mixture onto one half of the rolled-out dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge.
05 -
Evenly layer mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan over the chicken mixture. Sprinkle Italian seasoning on top of the cheeses.
06 -
Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon. Firmly seal the edges by pressing with your fingers or a fork.
07 -
Brush the surface of the calzone with olive oil. Cut two to three small slits on the top to allow steam to escape.
08 -
Transfer to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
09 -
While the calzone bakes, gently heat the remaining marinara sauce in a small saucepan for serving.
10 -
Once baked, allow the calzone to rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with the warm marinara sauce on the side. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
