Caramel Apple Puff Pastry (Print-Friendly Version)

Flaky pastry sheets layered with sliced apples, cinnamon, and caramel. Delicious served warm with vanilla ice cream.

# Ingredients You’ll Need:

→ Puff Pastry Base

01 - 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed but still cold

→ Fruit Filling

02 - 2 medium apples, cored and thinly sliced

→ Cinnamon Sugar Blend

03 - 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
04 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
05 - 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

→ Topping

06 - 1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, sliced into 6 thin pieces
07 - 4 to 6 tablespoons caramel sauce
08 - Vanilla ice cream, for serving (optional)

# How to Make It:

01 - Set oven to 425°F and allow to fully preheat.
02 - While the puff pastry thaws, core and slice the apples thinly. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt.
03 - Place thawed puff pastry on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cut into six equal rectangles and prick the center of each piece several times with a fork, leaving a small border for puffing.
04 - Arrange apple slices in a row down the center of each rectangle, overlapping slightly. Evenly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the apples. Top each pastry with one slice of butter.
05 - Transfer tray to the oven and bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until pastry is golden and puffed.
06 - Remove pastries from oven. Generously drizzle with caramel sauce and serve warm, with vanilla ice cream if desired.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Tart apples such as Granny Smith provide a nice counterpoint to the sweetness of caramel.
02 - Brush exposed pastry edges with egg wash before baking for a glossy finish.
03 - For best texture, enjoy fresh from the oven. Leftovers can be reheated at 350°F to restore crispness.
